Plastic bottle caps are a major problem for the world’s oceans and seas. Animals living off of the ocean, mistake them for food. Over 10.000 plastic bottle caps were found during the North Sea Beach Cleanup tour 2016. These caps were analysed and categorised. To pressure on policymakers and to create awareness among a broader audience, Stichting De Noordzee wanted to make a simplified explanation of their findings.
Their goal: using social media to let as many people as possible know how big the consequences are of littering plastic bottle caps.
Looking at the 10.000 bottle caps North Sea Foundation found, we thought of creating a stop motion using these caps. Creating a story that shows the tale of the bottle cap that gets thrown into the sea and destroys sea life. While the text talks about the facts and results of the tour.
With around 5.000 shares the stop-motion went viral on Facebook and received around 300.000 views internationally.
